Job Summary:
The Draughtsman at our engineering consultancy plays a crucial role in translating engineering designs and concepts into detailed technical drawings and plans. This role supports the design and engineering teams by producing accurate and precise drawings to facilitate project execution.
Responsibilities:
Drafting and Design: Create detailed and accurate technical drawings, plans, and schematics based on engineering designs and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Document Revision: Maintain and update technical drawings to reflect design changes, feedback, and project modifications.
Quality Assurance: Review and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drawings, including dimensions, notes, labels, and compliance with relevant standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements and incorporate design changes into drawings.
Documentation: Prepare and organize engineering and construction documents, including plans, elevations, sections, and details.
Technical Knowledge: Stay current with design standards, codes, and industry best practices to ensure drawings comply with all relevant regulations.
Problem Solving: Assist in resolving design issues and discrepancies through close collaboration with the design and engineering teams.
File Management: Organize, catalogue, and maintain digital and hard copy drawing files for easy retrieval and reference.
Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and external stakeholders to clarify design intent and resolve design-related queries.
Efficiency: Strive to complete drafting tasks efficiently and within project timelines while maintaining high accuracy.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or technical diploma in drafting or related field is preferred.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or Revit.
Proven experience as a Draughtsman or Draftsperson in the engineering or construction industry. Strong attention to detail and precision in drawing work.
Practical organizational and time management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Knowledge of engineering and architectural drawing standards and practices.
Familiarity with building codes and regulations is a plus.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
