Job Summary:
The Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring the compliance of electrical systems and installations with applicable codes, regulations, and project specifications. This role plays a crucial part in quality control and safety within engineering projects undertaken by the consultancy.
Responsibilities:
Inspection and Compliance: Conduct inspections of electrical systems, components, and installations to verify compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and project specifications.
Quality Control: Monitor and evaluate the quality and workmanship of electrical installations, ensuring they meet established standards.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspection findings, including photographs, notes, and reports. Provide clear and concise documentation of non-compliance issues.
Safety Assessment: Assess electrical systems for safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address electrical-related issues and ensure project success.
Code Interpretation: Stay current with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards, interpreting them for project teams and recommending code-compliant solutions.
Testing and Verification: Oversee and conduct tests, such as electrical load testing, insulation resistance testing, and ground testing, to ensure the functionality and safety of electrical systems.
Corrective Actions: Assist in developing corrective action plans and provide guidance on how to remedy non-compliance issues.
Training and Education: Provide guidance and training to project personnel to enhance their understanding of electrical compliance and safety.
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and communicate findings to project stakeholders, offering suggestions for improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Certification as a licensed electrical inspector is highly preferred.
Proven experience as an Electrical Inspector in engineering, construction, or related industries. In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment.
Knowledge of electrical design and installation processes.
