Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer at our engineering consultancy plays a vital role in designing, analyzing, and managing mechanical systems and components for various engineering projects. This position is integral to the successful execution of engineering projects, ensuring mechanical systems’ efficient operation and performance.
Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design: Develop and design mechanical systems and components, including HVAC, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, based on project requirements, codes, and standards.
Analysis: Conduct performance and feasibility assessments, calculations, and simulations to optimize mechanical system design and ensure efficient functionality.
Documentation: Create detailed mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics using computer-aided design (CAD) software to communicate design intent.
Material Selection: Select appropriate mechanical components and equipment, ensuring compatibility and compliance with project needs and budget constraints.
Code Compliance: Stay current with mechanical codes, regulations, and industry standards, and ensure that all designs and installations adhere to these requirements.
Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary project teams, including architects, civil engineers, and electrical engineers, to coordinate and integrate mechanical systems with the overall project design.
Project Management: Manage the mechanical aspects of projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control, to meet project goals and deadlines.
Testing and Commissioning: Oversee mechanical system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality and performance.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve mechanical engineering issues and challenges that may arise during project execution.
Client Communication: Maintain effective communication, providing updates on project progress, addressing client concerns, and managing client expectations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in engineering or consulting roles. Proficiency in mechanical design software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools. In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, and standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in cross-functional teams. Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Awareness of sustainability and energy efficiency principles in mechanical design. Knowledge of construction and installation processes for automated systems.
