Job Summary:

The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring the compliance and quality of mechanical systems, components, and installations by applicable standards, codes, project specifications, and industry best practices. This role is vital in quality control, safety, and project success within the engineering consultancy.

Responsibilities:

Inspection and Compliance: Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical systems, components, and installations to verify compliance with relevant codes, regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.

Quality Control: Assess and evaluate the quality and workmanship of mechanical installations, ensuring they meet established standards for functionality and safety.

Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of inspection findings, including photographs, detailed notes, and comprehensive reports. Document and report any non-compliance issues.

Safety Assessment: Identify and assess potential safety hazards related to mechanical systems and equipment, providing recommendations for corrective actions where necessary.

 

Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address mechanical-related issues, guide corrective actions, and ensure projects are executed to meet quality standards.

Code Interpretation: Stay informed about relevant mechanical codes, regulations, and industry standards and interpret them for project teams. Offer recommendations for code-compliant solutions and designs.

Testing and Verification: Oversee and conduct tests and measurements, such as pressure tests, vibration analysis, and equipment performance checks, to ensure the functionality, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems.

Corrective Actions: Assist in developing corrective action plans and provide expert advice on resolving non-compliance issues.

Training and Education: Deliver training and guidance to project personnel to enhance their understanding of mechanical compliance and safety.

Reporting: Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, communicate findings to project stakeholders, and collaborate with the project team to implement necessary improvements or changes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Certification as a licensed mechanical inspector is highly preferred.

Proven experience as a Mechanical Inspector in engineering, construction, or related industries. In-depth knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.

Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in using mechanical testing equipment and measurement tools. Knowledge of mechanical design and installation processes.
